Tarma's Meaning
Started in 2005, Tarma Designs was named after a small Peruvian town high in the Andes between Lima and the headwaters of the Amazon. An out of the way crossroads for goods and travelers along the path of the ancient Incan trail.
The Tarma logo of stacked stones is called a cairn (pronounced like the name Karen) and represents a trail cairn or marker that guides you through uncertain areas. To some, it represents the balance and path of life. And for others, the stacked rocks look like steps on a path. We think it is a little of all those and more.
The founder, Sky George, is an avid cyclist, hiker, runner and outdoor enthusiast who loves to travel. He grew up in Georgia and spent many years with CamelBak hydration systems in product management and marketing before starting Tarma. Sky currently serves on the PCTA board.
