About the ad – “Sky” (me) and “Tomato” (Brian Boshart, PTC 05, AT 06) did hike a loop in the Sequoia / Kings Canyon National Park this past August. It was a great route — I highly recommend it!

I met Tomato at the PTC kickoff in 05 and hiked on and off with the early birds to Kennedy Meadows. Originally, it was “No Tomato” because Brian didn’t like sliced tomatos on anything (tomato sauce was OK since it was standard on pizza – couldn’t pass that up!). Since the receiver of the trail name can veto any name put forth, the “no” was dropped and it ended up just “Tomato.”

The names of the hikers are fun and varied. A few of the names I remember from 05 include, One Braid, Free Bird, Mr. Roboto, Wildhare, Dick Tracy, Green Jeans, Greyhound, Country Boy, Buckey, Smak, Duck Boy and Speedy – each with a crazy story behind the name!”
