Quito, Ecuador. Jaime and Patty Luna use vegetable dyes to bring vivid primary colors and rich dark hues to their tagua jewelry. Originally a sculptor, Jaime became dedicated to a steady income from jewelry with the arrival of two daughters. Today, the family works mostly in tagua, a seed from the sustainably harvested palm tree, Phytelephas Equatorialis.
